Heat Platens are offered as part of Cascades Sonoco’s complete line of packaging products and services for the paper industry. Heat platens are used to seal coated headers to the ends of the paper roll.

Cascades Sonoco-manufactured heat platens feature a patented design that outperforms all other brands. They are available in two formats. Standard heat platens are assembled with extruded aluminum, strip heaters and fit-in insulation. The platens are wired to work with three-phase current and feature vacuum holes to hold specific diameter ranges. Cascades Sonoco’s patented quad heat platens are made from cast aluminum with embedded heating elements and fit-in insulation. Casting allows for higher wattage density and optimizes heat transfer. Each platen has four quad sections with its own temperature sensor and control loop yielding a uniform temperature spectrum. Quad heat platens have more vacuum holes for better support and are sold with a control panel featuring a multi-channel temperature controller allowing multi-zone variations.
